We had a great experience recently at the Hotel Continental in Oslo. Outside of it’s beautiful property and top notch service, it is accessible by taking the high speed train to National Theatre stop and walking about 20 feet to the front door of the hotel. Great way to begin a trip. I shouldadd that the high speed train is the only way to get to Oslo from the airport, unless you want to spend an insane $175 on a cab.
We arrived and were happily surprised by the quality of the room, its furnishings, interior design, modern amenities, and plush bedding. We had a very good breakfast as well the next morning, which was a fairly full set of entrees and accompaniments. In terms of locations, this is about as good as it gets and you can walk to any of the key tourist sites in the area.
As far as Oslo activities, we recommend taking the train to the Oslo Vinterpark, which is the only ski resort I know that is accessible by subway. It is about a 25 minute subway ride to get there.
Overall, the property is equivalent to any 4 star around the world, if not 5 star, and it makes sense that is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World group.
