Review: El San Juan Resort and Casino

October 28, 2015 by YGenMag at 1:47 pm

We recently stayed at the newly renovated El San Juan Resort and Casino and highly recommend it to our readers, for the next time you’re looking for a weekend jaunt to a sunny locale. The El San Juan Resort and Casino offers an old world feel with hip Puerto Rican culture. Out of all of the resorts in San Juan it is safe to say that the El San Juan is the capital of entertainment. The El San Juan is the perfect Puerto Rican getaway for a group of friends to escape the city, a Bachelor or Bachelorette party, or a romantic vacation with someone special.

Entertainment and Eats:

El San Juan lobby

From the moment we arrived at the El San Juan it was poppin’ like champagne, no but really though. From Happy Hour until 2AM the El San Juan Lobby is the place to be. Every night in the Lobby of the El San Juan there is live entertainment! During our stay we danced to the wonderful live bands with every genre from tropical, Salsa, merenge, and jazz. Inside the lobby there was not one, not two but three bars. Firstly, there is the gold bar which is right next to the casino making it the perfect spot for a drink before trying your luck on the roulette or Blackjack tables. The Blue Bar is the center bar in the middle of the lobby it has a sexy and hip vibe as well as, refreshing cocktails. The Silver Bar is on the left side of the lobby and is a great place to make new friends. The El San Juan happy hour is guaranteed to make you happy! The lobby’s happy hour occurs everyday from 5PM to 8PM for just Six Dollars or less! The Beer is the Puerto Rican crisp and delicious beer for $4 dollar. What would a happy hour in Puerto Rico be without DonQ rum for $6 dollars. The Happy hour Vodka is Skyy for $6. For Scotch you have a choice between Dewars or Cutty for Six Dollars. All selected wines are six dollars. We recommend trying the Mojito with DonQ Rum!

El San Juan music

The entertainment doesn’t stop in just the lobby at the El San Juan. There is two night clubs and the lounge at the El San Juan. Brava, is the main night club and is ranked to be the best club in Puerto Rico! We had a blast at Brava, it is two levels and there is a different DJ for upstairs and downstairs. Brava is open Thursday through Saturday so put your dancing shoes on and check it out. Rose Club a very hip and upscale club is open on Sundays. We enjoyed a bottle of Perrier Jouet Champagne.

On the roof of the El San Juan is a Murray Hill (NYC) favorite, Brother Jimmy’s. At Brother Jimmy’s we enjoyed the fishbowl of “swamp punch”. It was a nice rooftop and the perfect location to catch the sunset overlooking the island before heading down to Happy Hour in the lobby. It was a nice touch to have a taste of Manhattan at Brother Jimmy’s in San Juan located in the El San Juan.

If you are in the mood for some delicious Bar Bites at The El San Juan Casino and Resort don’t hestitate to check out the restaurant Meat Market – Miami Beach which has an amazing happy hour and bar bites from 5:30-7PM. Overall there are 10 different restaurants on the property to choose from, so you never have to leave.

Beach, Pool and straight loungin’:

Do you like to drink and swim…at the same time? Well, luckily the El San Juan offers a beautiful swim up bar where you can order delicous frozen drinks in addition to a full bar. They offer selection of lunch foods as well. Sun your buns and get your booze on, this was a perfect comboniation.

The Beach at the El San Juan is relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed the sun here with a nice Pina Colada. There is plenty of lounge chairs and even wait staff to get all of your drinks and dining needs. You can even get a massage on the Beach for just 25 dollars. The massage was relaxing, reinvigorating, and rejuvinating with the calming sound of the Ocean in the background.

Our Room:

We stayed in the Garden Lanai Room, which has its own terrace opening out to the pool. The room was gorgeous, beautifully decorated, decently sized (448 sf) and newly renovated with top amenties and a walk in closet. The bed was super comfy. The room also had a couch that pulled out so, this is a great feature allowing two more guests to sleep comfortably in the room. There was also complimentary fast wifi.
