We stayed at both Four Seasons properties in Bogota recently. Yes, both. It is one of the few cities that have 2 properties, and Bogota is well deserving of that honor. With it’s beautiful mountains, amazing cuisine, incredible culture, and status as a truly global modern city, it is an up and coming place.
At the Four Seasons Casa Medina:
We arrived and found a hotel that looked more like a palatial mansion from the 18th century than a hotel. The front entrance looked like a beautifal home entrance and was just as homely when we walked up the oak historical staircase (there is an elevator too) to our room. With plush seating on each of the floors and historical artwork, you trully feel like you just stepped into someone’s stately home.
The room itself was a beauty. At the end of the room was a plush extra wide bed, with a kind welcome letter on the table nearby. The closet itself was a walk in closet with room for 50 days of clothing and shelving. The bathroom was comprised of luxurious stone walls and counters, with a spacious shower that had very soothing water. Overall the room and experience were memorable. We certainly appreciated the comfort and service, especially after a long flight and acclimation to a higher altitude in Bogota. In the morning, we found an open air courtyard breakfast with a lavish spread and omelettes to order. They even accommodated a later check out so we could enjoy it further. We also took advantage of the gym in the hotel, which was well designed despite being small as expected. The most important part is that the gym fridge contained hydrating beverages.
At the Four Seasons Bogota
This hotel is in a more central location in one of the most hip neighborhoods of Bogota, Zona Rosa. This is equivalent to the Beverly Hills of Colombia. If you have any interest in enjoying the word reknown nightlife, this is the best neighborhood to be in and is blocks away from most of the top spots. FYI- The nightlife is best on Friday or Saturday.
The hotel itself is more modern in design than Casa Medina, with the elegant Four Seasons aesthetic. The room was spacious, particularly as we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. It looked like a penthouse lounge in NYC in some ways, with a design that was a cross between Colombian modern and American preppy. The bed itself was very plush and comfortable. I had no problem falling asleep after the stay. Breakfast at the hotel was also highly pleasant, with an even larger spread of selection than the prior hotel. Service was great and quick too.
We highly recommend staying at either hote. Casa Medina for a romantic retreat or quiet business stay in a trendy neighborhood. Four Seaaons Bogota for a weekend or partying.
